Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page supporting the MND Association. After completing the Jurassic Ultra in May, I'm leaving this page open to continue fundraising for such an important cause.
This is for my Mum, for all those that have been affected by MND and for those that it will touch in the future.
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. MND does not discriminate, 1 in 300 will be diagnosed by MND in their lifetime. We need to find a cure. By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease and will go to fund much needed research.

May 2024:
Myself and my friend Natali will be participating in the Jurassic Ultra this May to raise awareness for MND in memory of my wonderful Mum. Until Mum was diagnosed with MND around Easter in 2021 I had limited knowledge of this terrible and utterly helpless condition. I watched my Mum lose every independence, and then within 6 short months in October 2021, she lost her life.
Mum was a nurse, at the age of 18 she moved to London and trained at the Florence Nightingale school of nursing and midwifery, most recently finishing her career as Deputy Matron at Larchmere nursing home in Kent. Mum was the most caring person you could ever meet, she was kind and calm, intelligent, hugely patient and could turn her hand to almost anything.
MND took Mum from us all way too soon. She’d only just retired and moved down the road from us, looking forward to spending more time with her granddaughters who she adored.
As I sit here and write this, just over two years have passed and it doesn’t appear to be getting any easier, in fact I’d say it’s harder. I miss Mum more than words can say, I think about her all the time and long to hear her voice. This is why I’m doing this challenge and I will continue to raise awareness of this cruel and utterly devastating disease.
