Story
I am going to be running the Eastbourne Half Marathon on Sunday 23 February 2025, supporting the amazing St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
This charity holds a very special place in my heart, as they helped care for my Grandad during his battle with Parkinson’s Disease. My Grandad was an extremely happy and caring person who lit up the room with his smile and jokes, and thanks to the support from St Wilfrid’s Hospice, my family and I will always remember him that way.
Parkinson’s Disease is a condition that slowly attacks certain parts of the brain and as the condition progresses, simple everyday tasks can become increasingly tricky. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this condition, but St Wilfrid’s Hospice can provide lots of care and support for those battling it, and that’s exactly what they did for my Grandad. They helped provide care during the day and overnight, as well as supporting my Granny (his full time carer) when she needed a break. It also allowed my Grandad to meet and make friends with others who are in the same or similar situation.
I will forever be thankful to the nurses and team at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and it is for that reason I want to show my support and raise money for them.
All donations, no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated and will help this amazing charity continue to provide care and support for those with life limiting conditions!
Thank you all,
Miya x
