Story
Growing up, I competed in many long-distance running events, so here goes the running comeback…
Taking on a challenge has always been on my mind and after cheering on a couple of close friends of mine at events last year I simply loved the atmosphere.
I originally thought it would be more sensible to sign up for a half marathon and to play it safe but always had the marathon idea playing around on my mind.
After raising the idea with some friends, they said do the full ‘always better setting goals that you’re a bit scared of' and so here we are. I will be running my first ever marathon at the Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Missing People on the 26th of May this year!
Missing People is a charity close to myself and my family which stems from our close family friendship with Kate and Gerry McCann. Madeleine McCann, at the age of 3, disappeared from her bed in a holiday apartment on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Lagos, Portugal on the evening of 3rd of May 2007.
My parents have both been very much involved with the charity over many years. My dad, Stephen Winyard is a patron of the charity, and they created ‘The Stephen Winyard Award’ that recognises people, despite having been affected themselves, volunteer their time for free to make a difference for all missing children and their families.
If you are in a position to do so, I would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to sponsor me via the link to help the many children and adults who are missing and to motivate me, it might also make the aches of training worthwhile!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
