Story
Mens sana in corpore sano (latin), translating to a healthy mind in a healthy body. Also, a healthy body can help keep a healthy mind.
Having gone through my own struggles with mental health in the past, I consider myself one of the lucky ones that has managed to get through to the other side and keep that dark hole at bay. Unfortunately for some individuals I have known, and had the honour to meet, they did not make it through. They took the difficult decision because of not being able to access or know of the support they desperately needed.
Running is my way of keeping a healthy mind (my demons are lazy), so I will be running the BUFF joust 12 hour solo race on the 14th/15th September (waiting for date confirmation). This is a 50 mile/80.4km ultra marathon, the route is a 5.5 mile course so is repeated until either I run out of time (12 hours) or I hit the 50 mile target. As well as needing the physical strength and stamina, it will be an enormous challenge on my mental strength to keep pushing through a repetitive looped race, which is why I have chosen MIND charity.
