Story
We are running the London Marathon as my mum has Myeloma which is a rare blood cancer and was diagnosed last year. She is going through chemotherapy and it's turned our life upside down.
We did the marathon last year as a family and my mum never got a medal as she got cramps at mile 17, so we ran the rest to get a medal for her.
This year we want to raise as much awareness as we can on blood cancer especially in the South Asian community and I want to do this for my mum because I want her to know when she gets through her treatment she too can lead a normal life and get back to her fitness.
Running has saved my life and helped me through a really difficult time. My father is 75 and he is now doing his 4th full marathon, he wants to raise awareness and encourage more people over 70 to stay active.
Together we want to make a difference and do selfless service in anyway we can, to help support blood cancer and share my mum's story will help so many to understand the symptoms and to also not brush cancer under the carpet and get more people to understand that it can be treated and to reach out for support.
We humbly request anyone reading this to please support us in anyway you can to help us reach the target. Thank you so much as we couldn't do this without your support.
Some background to the charity below...
We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
