Story
We are running the 2024 TCS London Marathon for Cure Parkinson's in memory of Peter Jackson, George's late stepfather.
Peter was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather whose steady presence is missed more than words can say. Peter’s eight years with Parkinson’s were a constantly shifting experience and the onset of dementia in his final years had a particularly acute effect on his quality of life.
George and Minnie are running in his memory to raise money to help others fight against an illness that affected Peter so much in his final years.
Around 153,000 people in the UK alone are living with Parkinson’s (that equates to around 1 person in every 350). This is expected to increase by approximately 18% by the year 2025 and is set to almost double by 2065. It is predicted that 1 person in 37 will receive a diagnosis of Parkinson’s during their lifetime.*
Cure Parkinson's is leading the search for a cure and has made significant progress towards their goal. As well as reshaping the approach to Parkinson’s research, they’ve directly funded, or secured funding, for over £75 million of clinical trials searching for a cure for Parkinson’s. But there’s so much more they need to do, so they need your support.
