Story
I have chosen to take part in a 5k run to help raise vital funds for the Ataxia-Telangiectasia (AT) society. For those of you who know me will know that I am not a runner and running is not my thing at all! However, I am ready for this challenge!
The AT society is extremely important to me as it is a charity close to my heart. My incredible sister-in-law Jilly from @jillyscupcakehouse has AT and is heavily involved in the charity. Jilly is a fantastic baker and fundraises for the AT society through the sales of her delicious cakes. She has also participated in a 1.5 mile fun run and 2 sky dives! Jilly is a true inspiration for anyone that knows her! Despite the daily challenges she faces, she has raised an impressive £27,000 for the AT society from her cake sales, cake challenges, bake sales, skydives and the fun run.
Ataxia-Telangiectasia is a complex genetic disease which affects many parts of the body and causes severe disability. The symptoms include lack of balance, slurred speech and more than normal infections.
The AT Society is a small, national, charity supporting children, young adults and their families whose lives have been shattered by a diagnosis of AT, a rare, degenerative, life-limiting condition for which there is no cure. The AT Society work to support those living with AT and their families by raising awareness of the condition, giving emotional and practical support and commissioning and funding vital research into the fight against AT.
Now it is my turn to raise money for this incredible charity.
