Story

On 27 September 2024, Millie‘s dad, Fintan, will set off to run 330km. He is raising funds for Bolton Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit who so loving looked after Millie and gave him and Becca those precious days with their baby girl.

Why 330km you might ask? Fintan explains, "Millie was with us for just 33 days and the 0 is like an eternity ring as in she will be a part of us and in our hearts forever. My aim is to do something big for maximum impact to raise funds for the Bolton NICU ward but I have also had this burning desire inside of me to do this since the day Millie passed away."

As if that wasn‘t enough, the route is very hilly and Fintan will have climbed the equivalent of Everest by then end!

Our 33 day challenge starts on 1 August, with supporters pick their own activity. We have people... running, doing burpees, hula hooping, planking, pull ups, double unders, giving up sugar and a cha-cha-challenge! Feel free to join in, or start your own challenge at any time.

A little more about Millie in her parents words… "Millie Preya was born prematurely at week 22 and 6 days on 27 September at 8:42pm weighing just 486g. Although we knew the chances were extremely slim, we still believed that Millie would be our miracle baby. When she was born she gave out the tiniest little warrior cry which turned out to be the only time she did while she was alive. Millie was perfect, she was beautiful with a perfect little nose and perfect little toes but she was also a little fighter.

She fought so valiantly to remain with us over 33 days in NICU, battling one setback after another amazing the doctors, nurses and consultants with how someone so small and fragile could be so strong. The consultant said that she defied the odds of medical expectations for someone so premature, and earned herself the nickname "Mighty Millie Princess Warrior".

Millie means "gentle strength" and "strong at work" which pretty much sums up our little baby girl. On five different occasions we were told she wouldn't pull through but she wouldn't give in and was brave right up until the very end. Millie dealt with so much in her short life and had a big personality that captivated the hearts of everyone. We are so proud of our little Angel and are forever grateful that she chose us to be her parents."
