We fundraise for Cardiff and Vale hospitals to enhance the care provided by the NHS

Story

2 years ago our family experienced a traumatic event where our mum suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm.

The staff at Cardiff University Hospital of Wales T4 Neurosurgical High Care Unit Ward were outstanding and supported our mum and family throughout the whole process, surgery and recovery. The staff were amazing, caring, friendly and supportive.

Recovery for our mum was tough physically and mentally , we as a family felt helpless and questioned if she would ever be able to return back to work or live a ‘normal’ day to day life. She is one of the lucky ones as she has survived even though she does still face some difficult challenges on her journey in recovery. Although the journey to recovery still continues it has taught our family to appreciate everything in life that little bit more.

Without the team on T4, the work they carry out we do not believe our mum would still be here today. We are ever so grateful.

I am taking part in the Newport 10k on the 13th April 2025 and the Porthcawl 10K 6th July 2025. The monies raised will be donated to the T4, Neurosurgical High Care Unit.

As someone who is not a runner , this will be extremely challenging, I would therefore be eternally grateful if you could sponsor me so I can give back to the ward who saved my mum. Thank you xx
