Story

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to share that I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London this October, and I’m doing it for a very special cause that’s close to my heart. This run isn’t just about crossing the finish line—it’s about celebrating my 40th birthday which is on October 26th and honoring the memory of my mother, Merle des Etages.

My mom was a vibrant, loving and artistic woman who battled Dementia bravely until she passed away in December 2022. Her journey was tough, but one thing that held true as her mind changed was her unwavering appreciation and love of the arts. My mom when she was well believed firmly in the importance of art and creativity in enhancing quality of life for all people and through her I've come to appreciate the profound impact it has on those who are affected by dementia specifically. That's why I’m raising funds for Arts for Dementia, a charity dedicated to helping people with dementia live well through artistic expression.

I believe in the power of art to bring joy, spark memories, and foster connections. Every step I take in this half marathon is for my mom and others like her, who deserve moments of happiness and dignity. Running 13.1 miles won't be easy, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by those living with dementia and their families.

Here’s where you come in! I need your support to make a real difference. Your generous donations will go directly to Arts for Dementia, funding programs that provide much-needed creative outlets for those affected. Whether it’s through painting, music, dance, or drama, your contribution will help bring light to someone’s life.

Follow my journey as I train, sweat, and probably stumble a bit (it wouldn’t be me if there aren’t a few bloopers lol!)

I’ll be sharing updates, photos, and stories from my runs—so you can laugh, cheer, and maybe even get inspired to lace up your own running shoes!

Thank you for joining me in this mission. Let’s make my 40th birthday one to remember, not just for me, but for countless others who can benefit from the healing power of art.

With heartfelt thanks,

Marielle
