Story
Crudwell 'Le Mans' 24 Hour bike ride is a community fundraising event where teams of all ages and ability compete to raise the most sponsorship.
As well as raising funds for improvements to Crudwell village hall, 80% of funds raised by each team go to the charity of their choice, in my case Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA).
It's SARA's 50th anniversary this year, they've been saving lives on and around the Severn since 1973! They are frequently tasked to help other services such as the Police with search and rescue, mountain and river rescue too. Three Tetbury Velos (Martin Holloway, David Wright and Ian Warner) are SARA volunteers, and they're providing medical cover for the Crudwell bike ride again this year.
Tetbury Velos have won the Crudwell Cup (most laps) for the last 4 years, but it will go to another team in 2023, a good thing. It's because this year I'm riding solo, inspired by Rich Groome who completed 40 laps (272 miles) in 2018 - quite simply an amazing ride and achievement! I will be pleased if I can match him, my longest ride over 24 hours to date is 250 miles.
If you can spare a few pounds it will help motivate me at 2am when it's dark and chucking it down (like last year!).
Thank-you as always, Mike
