Story
Thank you for taking the time to look at and hopefully donate to my Just Giving Page. I’m looking to raise £300 for Mission Motorsport who are the official UK Armed Forces motorsport charity by completing the Ilkley half marathon on the 13th July wearing military kit/boots and carrying a 55lb/25kg pack.
When I’m not working as most of you will know my true passion is cars and motorsport. I grew up watching racing in the 90’s and seeing the likes of Ayrton Senna and Colin McRae among many other greats it’s easy to see why a young lad like me would have been hooked.
Mission Motorsport’s aim is to bring service personnel affected by operations and experiences together through the their love of cars and racing. Motorsport is unique that able bodied and disabled individuals can compete on a level playing field. The car/vehicle can be adapted and not the sport. Their motto is ‘Race, Retrain, Recover’. They organise meetings, track days and events among many other things for people to get together and share experiences through a common passion. They have also helped more than 200 wounded service personnel find employment and over 2000 service leavers find employment In the automotive industry with nationally recognised vocational programs.
Having worked on the on the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) Chinook Helicopter In Afghanistan as part of the Force Protection element and evacuated casualties from the battlefield and witnessed their injuries, it’s great to know there organisations like Mission Motorsport are there to assist and bring veterans together in retraining and employment through something they love.
Any donation however big or small would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
