We help stroke survivors to find strength through support.

Story

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.

York Speakability brings aphasia survivors together and gets them talking. The group was formed 25 years ago and stroke survivors and other aphasia sufferers have been helping each other ever since. Please help York Speakbility raise valuable funds to help keep them talking! York Speakabilty is part of the Stroke Association.

On Saturday 16th September 2023 from 10.30am, stroke survivors, carers, friends, relatives and dogs will be walking, being pushed in wheelchairs, on mobility scooters, cycling or running round the pathway at York Racecourse! Any distance they choose up to about 2 miles, or multiple times as far as you like..

Hopefully there will be more than 30 of us...
