Story

Thanks to your generous donations we are able to enhance patient care and the well-being of our incredible NHS staff by funding initiatives over and above what the NHS would routinely provide.

Whether it’s state of the art equipment, pioneering research or increased staff training, we’re committed to helping our local NHS go further.

On ward 3 we are committed to providing holistic end of life care and have developed an end of life room to create a warm homely space for families to say their last goodbyes together in a comfortable environment.

I myself have stage 4 cancer and it inspired me to create a calm and warm place for families and patients to be cared for, when you are faced with the worst situations knowing you have people who truly care and understand your needs makes all the difference. At the end of your life sometimes going home is not preferred or appropriate option so we want to bring the homely comfort and soft surroundings to everyone we care for and those they love.

I can no longer be in a clinical role however behind the scenes we can strive to create service improvement and hold the hands of our patients and families at the most sensitive and difficult of times.

Lasting memories and kindness really can and does make a difference and true empathetic care is our mission we think of ourselves as a ward family and hope to foster this to our patients who are on their end of life care journey.

We are wanting to sustain our end of life room evolve and improve to the needs of patients and families we care for. We are asking for kind donations towards our cause and will be holding regular raffles throughout the year to maximise our ability to create our beautiful space for care and reflection. Gentle touches a private en suite room with outside space will allow families to have time to accept reflect and hold their loved ones close in a sensitive caring way knowing staff are at hand to support throughout this journey.

We aim to renovate the courtyard area to create access via the end of life room and enable well being space for staff and families.
