In Loving Memory of Michael Parry

Sharon Parry is raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK
In memory of Michael Parry
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thank you for visiting our page in memory of Michael. It is here that we are asking for donations instead of flowers for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Read on for a little bit of his story and why he chose this charity.

Michael was the bravest person we will ever know. He not only fought pancreatic cancer over the last two years, but he remained positive and so very brave throughout a very difficult battle. He was diagnosed in April 2023, and was one of the lucky ones, caught early enough for curative surgery. Following surgery and chemotherapy, he believed he was cured. However, it recurred soon afterwards as it often does.

Following the news of the recurrence, Michael didn’t feel sorry for himself but wanted to continue to raise awareness and funds for Pancreatic Cancer. He wanted to be able to contribute to finding early detection methods and for kinder, less harsh treatments, so that many more people could be cured of this awful cancer. For this reason, he has requested that instead of flowers for his Celebration of Life Service, he has asked for donations towards Pancreatic Cancer UK, so that they can continue to bring more than hope to families faced with this awful cancer.

Many people reached out to Michael on his journey, those going through a similar journey as well as family and friends of those going through it. He was always happy to talk, share experiences and offer a shoulder to cry on. He said that if he could help even one person, then that was enough.

On Thursday 6th February, 2025, Michael was finally able to stop fighting and passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and beloved dogs.

Throughout the last 34 years Michael has been an amazing husband and father. His sense of humour and zest for life always shone through. He was, and will always be, the centre of our Universe. He was loved by so many people, and we have seen this through the lovely memories and kind words people have been sharing with us since Michael passed away.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of his story, and for donating in memory of our amazingly brave and courageous Husband and Father.
