Story

Hi everyone - thank you for visiting this page! We are so honored to be raising money to support the 2nd Annual "Cape Day" at The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Cape Day is an annual celebration that takes place at many children's hospitals across the country. It is meant to honor and celebrate the true superheros - the resilient children battling illnesses and facing health obstacles that most of us could never imagine (as well as the doctors and nurses caring for them). During this day, patients and staff are given superhero capes to wear in honor of their inspiring strength. It truly is an amazing and heartwarming event filled with games and fun activities for the children all day long.

In addition to supporting this cause, we are thrilled to be able to honor Michael's legacy. For those of you who did not know Michael, he was the epitome of positivity and love - a spirit so contagious, he never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face or a joke on the tip of his tongue. So to no surprise, he had great compassion for children in similar situations who may not fully understand their illness. Because of this, he wrote and published the book "Adventures at the Hospital" to bring fun to a normally sterile environment - as well as celebrate patients and doctors as the superheroes they are. He was thrilled to donate hundreds of copies to children's hospitals across the country for families and patients to utilize during their time at the hospital.

After courageously battling brain cancer for over four years, Michael passed away in May of 2022. We cannot think of a better way to honor him than to support this amazing cause at The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year, we were able to donate over $26,000 to support the day and cover the expenses (and so much more!) for the first Cape Day in Pittsburgh. We're raising money again to ensure every patient is able to wear a cape and participate in this event, as well as underwrite the costs associated with the day. We hope that the hospital staff and patients do not have to worry about a financial burden but can instead celebrate and enjoy this fun day together!

The event will take place on April 29th. Any donations are so greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support!!!
