Story
Next August, myself and a group of students from the University of Exeter are taking on the incredible challenge of trekking to Machu Picchu in aid of Hope for Children. We will be going 4,700m above sea level on this 6-day expedition to reach Machu Picchu. For those of you who know me, you'll be aware that I am notoriously clumsy, so if I can make it to Cusco airport at the very least without tripping over my own feet, I will consider that a great success in itself. I'm looking forward to coming back with lots of memories and hopefully not too many bumps and bruises.
Hope for Children is an international charity that passionately believes every child has the right to a happy, healthy and positive childhood. Hope for Children creates opportunities and brighter futures for overlooked, vulnerable and exploited children living in extreme poverty.
Here's how your donation could make an impact:
• £6 can provide online tuition for a secondary student in Uganda for a week
• £12 can provide a counsellor for a young person for one month
• £20 can provide a set of headphones for a blind student to access recorded material in school in Sri Lanka
• £50 can provide English, Maths & Science classes to one child in Sri Lanka for 1 year
• £98 can provide 1 secondary education teacher for a year
• £100 pays for a child to be enrolled on the feeding programme for a whole year
• £600 covers a 6 month supply of sanitary pads and underwear for all girls on Walk 2 School and other projects in Uganda
Leading up to the expedition, I will be engaging in various fundraising endeavours in order to reach my goal. Any support, whether it be donations, or spreading the word, would be greatly appreciated! I'll say break a leg so you don't have to. (Please respect the restraint it took not to make a Michu Picchu joke)
