Story
As all our family and friends know - our beautiful daughter Harriet, has a pre-natal brain condition. This condition was identified at the 20 week scan and we where told to prepare for the worst. As the pregnancy got towards the final few weeks, further bad news was given to us that there was another brain condition. We where told by two doctors at 35 weeks that we should terminate the pregnancy. Harriet may never breathe, swallow, smile, see, hear, and that 'it wouldn't be fair' on her to continue with the pregnancy. We decided otherwise, and that Harriet deserved the chance to live no matter what.
Another (more supportive) doctor, arranged for Claire House to meet us, which they did at our 37 week scan. Ever since they have been a source of strength to us. The support we have been shown from them is amazing, and we have been fortunate enough to be invited to Claire House, and witness first-hand what the people working for this fantastic charity do for the young children and parents who need them.
Harriet, at the time of writing this, is just shy of six months old, and has so far defied all the odds, so far she has shown no symptoms of her brain condition, and although things could of course change, she is hitting the developmental milestones set out for all children. She is literally a miracle, and we are so very proud of her. As the condition exists, and we had a relationship with Claire House, Harriet attends monthly playgroups alongside other children at the Clatterbridge venue. All the staff are amazing and to see the smiles on all of the childrens faces as they interact with them is truly heart-warming. They also LOVE Harriet and really make a fuss of her every time we attend.
We are participating in the Wirral Walk and hope that our loved ones can help contribute to this amazing charity, so they can continue to support children in our area.
Thanks, Mike and Becky xxx
