Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back for year 2…..Following the success of last years event, on 16th November 2024 I will be tackling 49 miles running around Yarborough Leisure Centre running track, 1 mile for each person sadly killed on Lincolnshire roads in 2023.
A bit about myself…
I am a serving response sergeant with Lincolnshire police. I have been a police officer for over 22 years, 7 years of which I specialised in roads policing and as an authorised firearms officer before returning to response on promotion, and during that time I have seen first hand the devastation road fatalities take on the families and friends of road traffic victims who have sadly died.
I, like my colleagues know that fatal 5 offences contribute to a lot of the needless deaths on our roads. The Fatal 5 offences are:
DRINK/DRUG DRIVING.
SPEEDING.
MOBILE PHONES.
SEATBELTS.
DISTRACTED DRIVING.
I use my work X account (formally twitter - @SgtTempo) to raise awareness of fatal 5 offences and promote road safety initiatives and raise awareness of RoadPeace, a fantastic charity supporting people bereaved or injured in road crashes, and campaigning for justice, rights and recognition for road crash victims, and road danger reduction.
Give Road Peace a follow on X and Instagram - @RoadPeace
I will run the full 49 miles around the Yarborough Leisure Centre 400 metre running track in Lincoln on Saturday 16th November which also coincides with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims the following day while also raising funds for RoadPeace and I welcome as many people as possible to pop down on the day and run a lap or 2 with me. (I’ll need the support 🥵)
Last year’s event really brought the community together and was well received by families affected by road fatalities.
I have 8 years service left in the police and hope to make this a legacy event each year (injury’s permitting) in the hope that raising awareness will reduce deaths on our roads and one year I won't have to run any miles at all, whilst also sparking conversations around road safety and educating motorists of all ages to share Lincolnshire roads safely.
