Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a serving response sergeant with Lincolnshire police. I have been a police officer for over 21 years and during that time I have seen first hand the devastation road fatalities take on the families and friends of road traffic victims who have sadly died.
I, like my colleagues know that fatal 4 offences contribute to a lot of the needless deaths on our roads. The Fatal 4 offences are:
DRINK/DRUG DRIVING
SPEEDING
MOBILE PHONES
SEATBELTS.
I use my work X social media account (formally twitter - @SgtTempo) to raise awareness of fatal 4 offences and promote road safety initiatives and raise awareness of 2 fantastic road safety charities RoadPeace and Brake the road safety charity.
I wanted to do something a bit different for the Brake road safety week that runs from Sunday 19th November to 25th November 2023 and so i'm running a mile to honour every person who sadly died on Lincolnshire's roads in 2022 which stands at a staggering 48 fatalities.
I will run the full 48 miles around the Yarborough Leisure Centre 400 metre running track (193 laps) in Lincoln on Sunday 19th November which also coincides with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims while also raising funds for RoadPeace and Brake.
I have 9 years service left in the police and hope to make this a legacy event each year in the hope that raising awareness will reduce deaths on our roads and one year I won't have to run any miles at all.
As I am raising money for two charities I have had to create 2 individual Just Giving accounts but I have linked them together. It would be great if both charities could benefit with equal donations if possible.
