Story
Our son, Casper, passed away just over a week before he was due in late April 2023. It was a complete shock, and every day since has been filled with sadness and trauma as we grieve for his loss and the life he'll never get the chance to live. As he will never be able to make memories of his own, it is important to us that we keep the flame of his memory burning forever.
One of the ways we want to celebrate Casper is by raising money for Sands, an amazing charity which helps anyone affected by the tragic loss of a baby.
We want to take on a proper challenge to raise as much money as we can for Sands. That's why, in June, we will take on a continuous 100km (approximately 62mile) walking challenge in the Lake District. Amy and I will start walking at 8am on Saturday 8th June, and we won't stop until we've covered a massive 100km.
It will be a long, gruelling experience but it will be worth every step if we raise a lot of money for a brilliant charity. Any donations are so appreciated.
Stillbirth is cruel and isolating, and something no parent should ever have to face. But sadly some parents do, and that is why a charity like Sands is so important.
About Sands
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
