Story
Since the charitys launch in 2011, JBTC have helped over 1,200 local islanders (patients and family included) providing emotional and practical support.
Each patients journey is unique and individual to them, and their needs will vary too. Size, position of tumour, type of tumour, symptoms, and prognosis. All vary from one person to another.
The one common factor is being told you have a brain tumour is devastating. What to do next? Who can you turn to? The need for information is high!
Apart from JBTC support to feel less alone, there is lots of information and terminology out there online. Dr Google is not your friend. However, UK charity brainstrust provide invaluable information within their Brain Box, in their words - a lifeline after diagnosis, provision of key information and books plus, simple things that remind you to look after yourself. Basically, a box of information sent to you.
