I’m Running the London Marathon – Supporting The Firefighters Charity
Two knee surgeries down & having been told by my surgeon to steer clear of long-distance running, I am gearing up to run the London Marathon in less than two months time!
I always thought about doing a Marathon especially watching it pass my Fire Station for the last 3 years but I never actually wanted to cut down the biscuits & put the work in! Wanting to do something that matters & make every step count, I will raise money for this charity, one that is unknown to many…
🔥 The Fire Fighters Charity
I’ve been a Firefighter for 19 years & among other incidents, in 2015 I attended a truely horrendous incident involving children that I will never forget. It was effecting me more than I realised & finally sought help in 2020 where I was diagnosed with severe PTSD & it gave me the help I didn’t know I needed.
PTSD is something way too many firefighters struggle with in silence and the Fire Fighters Charity is a lifeline, providing essential physical and mental health support. This includes rehabilitation for injured firefighters, counseling services, recuperation & financial help after Cancer diagnosis and a support line for those struggling with suicidal thoughts—an issue sadly too common in the service.
My knees aren’t exactly thrilled about the idea but if you can spare a few quid, every donation big or small, would mean the world—not just to me, but to the firefighters & their families who need support.
Thank you for reading, donating, sharing, and cheering me on. See you at the finish line (hopefully in one piece).
