We support the Simpson Neonatal Unit to provide the best possible care to babies

Story

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My good friends Paul and Meghan Godsman, see pic above, invited me to help them raise funds for Simpsons Special Care Babies (SSCB) by taking on another cycling challenge!

Their son Blake was born 9 weeks premature with a condition called Oesophageal Atresia. Due to his condition and premature birth, Blake was transferred to Simpson’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Edinburgh where he was put on a ventilator and placed into an incubator. After 125 days post birth, Blake finally went home with them.

I was naive to the fact that the majority of NICU units in the UK, like SSCB, are predominately charity funded and provide much needed help and support to many parents going through a very difficult and challenging time.

Therefore, to raise funds, as part of the Coast 2 Coast team, we will be taking on the challenge of cycling from Dumbarton on the West Coast of Scotland, to Aberfeldy, onwards to Granton-on-Spey and finishing in Aberdeen on the East Coast of Scotland, a total distance of 380 kilometers and 4,816m of elevation, 6 hours a day on the bike, including cycling over the Lecht ski slope.
