Story
My name is Michael Holt, and in January 2024, I will embark on a solo and unsupported row for 3100 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to fundraise for LCVS (Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services).
I will begin my journey from Gran Canaria, Spain and finish my voyage in Port St Charles, Barbados. I will be rowing for over 16 hours a day and will survive on under 4 hours of sleep per day. This voyage could take from 50 - 110 days to complete.
I will be 54 when I begin the voyage, and by then, I will have been training for over 2 years.
Why have I chosen to fundraise for LCVS?
LCVS is a charity located in the heart of the Liverpool City Centre. I have been a business customer of LCVS for over 11 years and in that time, I have gotten to know the organisation very well.
Since 1909, LCVS has been working to improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities in Liverpool by helping the local third sector (charities, voluntary and community organisations etc.) to thrive. LCVS does this by providing support, funding, advice, training, networking and representation for individuals and voluntary sector organisations across the Liverpool City Region.
With the current economic situation, certain individuals and communities need more help than others and I believe that by helping to fundraise for LCVS, I can help in some way.
All money raised will go towards LCVS and the wealth of services it offers to Liverpool’s third sector.
