Our Story

Our dear friend Tony has been living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) since 2020, a legend and a well loved regular at Caldicot Town Football Club.

MND is life-shortening and there is currently no cure. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life.

MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. There is a 1 in 300 risk of getting MND across a lifetime. Famous faces and campaigners from the world of sport have lived or are living with MND, like the late inspirational Doddie Weir, Rob Burrows, Stephen Darby, Ed Slater and recently Jason Bowen & Bristol football legend Marcus Stewart.

This year a team has come together made up of friends and family along with a group of lads from the social section of the Football Club who have committed to significant lifestyle changes to support this charity and complete the mountain sections of the challenge to first and foremost raise awareness of MND, with Tony and his wonderful family at the forefront of our thoughts.

Every donation makes a difference to a person living with MND. The MND Association ensures that every pound they receive is spent carefully so that friends like Tony and his family, affected by MND, get the support they need, both now and in the future.

This is where we as a team now reach out to you to see if you could spare a few pound donating to our JustGiving page, for the biggest challenge any of us have ever undertaken.

On the weekend 8th / 9th / 10th September the Team will be taking part in

SnowCadriPenY Hike & Bike Challenge.

Hiking the Welsh 3 Peaks, cycling in between the mountains, finishing with a final cycle to complete the challenge at Caldicot Town Football Club.

The Welsh 3 Peaks are made up of three of the highest and most iconic mountains in Wales: Snowdon, Wales’ tallest peak and the highest point in Britain outside the Scottish highlands; Cadair Idris, a spectacular peak at the southerly edge of Snowdonia National Park; and Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales.
