In loving memory of Saskia Leuchars.

Amelia's business partner and our best friend, Saskia Leuchars, sadly took her own life in September 2023. She lost her fight against depression. As mental health advocates this has hit Amelia and I very hard.

Saskia’s love for wildlife and conservation, yet hate for running (or any form of sport), makes the Lewa 2024 marathon the perfect tribute to Saskia. This time we will do the running, whilst also passionately continuing to support the wildlife she loved.

The Lewa 2024 marathon in Kenya will take place on Saturday 29th June 2024. Amelia is going to aim to complete her first 10k and I am going to attempt to complete the challenging Full Marathon.

The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya is home to the annual Lewa Safari Marathon, organised by Tusk in partnership with Lewa and Safaricom. Regarded by Runner’s World as one of the world’s top ten marathons, running a marathon on an African wildlife conservancy presents some unique challenges. Each year participants share the reserve with the Big 5!

This marathon is notoriously one of the world’s most challenging and rewarding. Set on the conservancy’s dirt roads the route takes runners across savannah plains, along river banks and through acacia woodland.

This unique event has supported conservation projects across Kenya and is marking its 25th anniversary this year! By taking part, every single participant plays a huge role in helping local communities and raising awareness of the threats facing Africa’s incredible wildlife.

We are aiming to raise a minimum of £3,500 and all funds will be donated to Tusk under Saskia's name.
