Canoeing 100 miles along the M&B canal · 29 August 2024
My mum, & dad, brothers, my boyfriend and his dad will be helping me with my aim to canoe 100 miles along the Monmouthsire & Brecon canal to raise money for the Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau.
I came up with this idea after completing my Silver DofE award. I can’t think of a better charity than the The Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau, this charity is made up of so many wonderful volunteers who don’t get as much credit as they deserve. Please donate to this wonderful organisation. The Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau provides a vital role in supporting members of the community. We are a not for profit charity that is heavily reliant on Grants, Fund-raising and donations in order to continue to undertake current and future projects. These are just some of these things that the volunteer bureau do to support the community of Crickhowell.
They successfully run the Community Car Scheme to provide patient transport to and from hospitals.
They run over 30 social groups a month, and offer 1:1 befriending.
They offer a prescription delivery service.
They manage the Duke of Edinburgh , ‘Going for Gold’, scheme in the area.
They manage 11 Defibrillators in the locality.
They are a chosen charity for the Crickhowell Rotary Club annual duck race.
They recruit volunteers for inhouse and external projects.
They manage the Santa appeal in Crickhowell enabling Christmas gifts to be delivered to children under the Powys Children’s services umbrella.
They organise Santa’s visit to Crickhowell.
They organise a Christmas Hamper Appeal for the benefit of members of our community that are elderly, vulnerable and lonely - especially over the Christmas period.
