Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to run the London Marathon 2024 for Dementia UK in support of my Dad who has been diagnosed with Logopenic Variant Primary Progressive Aphasia which is a rare form of Dementia.
Unfortunately my Dad has had several health battles to contend with over the last 10-15 years. Bowel cancer, a stroke, triple bypass and most recently the diagnosis of Logopenic Variant Primary Progressive Aphasia. It is now extremely tough to communicate with him as he has lost speech apart from ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ and even these 2 words are not always used correctly.
My Dad was a PE teacher for over 20 years and also involved in Suffolk Schools Football for many years, so with him having such a physical lifestyle before he became ill, it feels right to help raise awareness and and as much money as possible in something that will be a challenge to myself in an active way, so this is why I have chosen to do the London Marathon.
It’s going to be a tough journey to train and get through the run but not a touch on the battles my Dad has been through but still a battle none the less. So please help me through this challenge and donate anything you can, whilst helping to raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK- all money raised goes towards this special charity.
I will aim to do updates on here so you can see how I’m getting on with the training and if you know me well there will be some different fundraising methods come the New Year including a time sweepstake, chance to pick a song for my playlist for the race and many more.
