Story
On the 4th May this year, both myself and my wonderful boyfriend Miles are taking part in the Prague marathon. For both of us, this is a brand new personal challenge which we are completely committing to.
As part of this challenge, we also wanted to raise money for some charities incredibly close to both our hearts.
2024 was a tough year with my dad being diagnosed with bowel cancer. Once diagnosed, the care and support received from doctors, MacMillan nurses, oncologists, consultants was incredible. Everything moved quickly to ensure that dad’s fight against cancer began as soon as possible. The work all these teams do to ensure quick diagnosis, early intervention and continuous support throughout wouldn’t be possible without charities like Bowel Research UK. After chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery we are incredibly fortunate that dad is being treated and his prognosis is good. However, the surgery required for dad’s diagnosis wouldn’t have been possible 10 years ago without the advances made by Bowel Research. This kind of research has benefitted dad and many others with a similar diagnosis and will continue to in coming years.
I would like to raise some money to help them continue the incredible work that they do researching, supporting others going through the same battle and continue to make developments into fighting Bowel Cancer.
Miles is also fundraising for an amazing charity, Arthur Rank, in memory of his and Lauren’s mum Rachel - please do also take the time to visit his fundraiser https://www.justgiving.com/page/miles-evans-1736155190631?newPage=true ❤️
Thanks for taking the time to read and if you can, any donations for this charity would be incredible - the price of a pint (not even necessarily a London pint) or a few pounds would make all the difference! If you take anything away from this, please make sure you do your Bowel Cancer screening!!
