Story
Why am I doing this? Read on please...
Lung cancer - it's known as the "silent killer" as it typically doesn't present until too late. Diagnosis is done through scans and biopsies - not knee pain, headaches, being out of breath, coughs or even smoking. More and more "never smokers" are being diagnosed with lung cancer. Air pollution is seen as a potential cause.
Over 49,000 new lung cancers are detected every year, it is the 3rd most common cancer in the UK - but the #1 killer. (Cancer UK)
There are fantastic treatments available and treatments are improving, but more work is needed.
I know all this because I was diagnosed in April 2023 and have received first-class treatment. At the last check-up my oncologist told me, "there is nothing to see". Carry on.
Help me support the work of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Thank you.
