Story
At Menston Primary School we are bear-y excited to be home to one of the Leeds Bear Hunt bear cubs. Over the next 5 months we are hoping to raise a grrrr-eat amount of money to send with our bear cub into the wilds of Leeds during the Bear Hunt trail to support the Leeds Children's hospital and children like Freddie.
Freddie has been a patient at Leeds Children's Hospital from birth. At 6 months old, Freddie was diagnosed with a rare and chronic disease which affects his liver and heart.
Freddie underwent a liver transplant when he was 3 and 6 months later had his first heart surgery. The following year Freddie had another complex 16-hour heart surgery which lead to him needing to be in intensive care on a life support machine for 2 weeks.
After all this, Freddie is now in good health but still under the care of the hospital.
"We are unbelievably grateful to everyone that has been part of Freddie's surgery, rehabilitation and care. There were some scary times but the surgeons, doctors and nurses at Leeds Children's Hospital have always been incredible. It is so important to ensure they can continue to deliver the same great service and care that we received."
Your support will help fund some of the specialist equipment required to operate on Freddie and other children like Freddie.
