Story
I'm back... after taking a couple of years out from personal fundraising (after a massive year of challenges) it felt the right time to start again.
In September I will be doing the Lakes 10 - 10 Peaks, approx 20km in 12 hours. Seems easy... well that's what I thought but actually it's not that easy and after no exercise in nearly a year, I am now back in the gym panicking that I might not be fit enough... oops.
Why you might ask...well because of this lady in the photos, my mum. The C word is not one you ever want to hear but mum had to deal with it twice in the last 12 months.
In 2021 she found out she had yet another basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer) but due to needing a surgeon and plastic surgeon the wait was long.
Then in May 2023 she was told she had breast cancer and had a single mastectomy 5 month later which, unfortunately, lead to severe sepsis!
In April 2024 after a 2 year wait she had surgery and plastic surgery to remove the tumour and rebuild her nose. And whilst doing all this she took every day in her stride and showed unflappable strength and most of the time with a smile on her face.
The Christie surgeons did the most amazing job and without them she probably would be looking a different future.
So why am I panicking about 10 peaks... If my mum can do all this I can do the Lakes 10.
Please can you help me raise as much money for The Christie so more people like my mum can look ahead to a bright future.
