Story
On the 27th February 2025, the anniversary of my Mum passing, myself and Jamie will be walking 19 miles from our home in Warrington to The Christie Hospice in Manchester.
My Mum had been diagnosed with womb cancer in October 2022 and underwent surgery to remove it which was successful. Unfortunately, while recovering at home, complications arose, and she was readmitted to hospital in December for further tests. These tests revealed the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, an aggressive type of cancer affecting the white blood cells in the body, this meant that she had to stay in hospital for the entirety of the treatment.
Over the following months, she faced multiple rounds of chemotherapy with incredible strength and positivity, determined to fight for remission. Her optimism was infectious, and the ward staff often commented on the sheer number of visitors she welcomed - a testament to how loved she was.
One special moment we'll always cherish was when she was allowed to leave the hospital for an afternoon during a break from treatment, to reunite with myself, my Sister, my Dad, Jamie, and Poppy the dog. That day is a memory we all hold close to our hearts and was filled with tea, biscuits and laughter!
Sadly on the 23rd February we received the devastating news that her treatment had not been successful and just four days later Mum passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
The Christie provides incredible care, is at the forefront of cancer treatment and research, and we are so grateful for everything they did for our Mum.
We hope to raise money to support their life-changing work and celebrate our lovely Mum.
Any support would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much ❤️
