Story
Hi everyone!
I am honoured to have been asked to join part of the ‘Cedars Walk for CALM’, which I enthusiastically said I would love to be a part of. Campaign Against Living Miserably is an incredible charity working with people who have suicidal ideation and is a charity very close to my heart. Our plan is to do a 15km over night walk and I have taken the below from Naomi’s (the amazing organiser) story:
‘Within the Cedars and Leighton Buzzard community, sadly, we have been affected by young people who have taken their lives in recent years. We strive to continue to support our students with their mental health.
I believe walking at night time not only adds to the challenge but people often feel quite isolated and need connection during these dark hours. I also think seeing in a new day adds some depth to the walk. I am hoping to use this opportunity to also 'walk and talk' to those who wish to.’
Below is some more info about this fantastic charity:
‘Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably.
From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what.
£8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.’
Any donations are much appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read this and support us!
