Story

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, one of our two Charity Partners for the 2024/25 charity fundraising year, helps to provide the best possible care for young patients at Scotland's largest children's hospital. With your help, they can give young patients and their families the extra special care they deserve.

About McCrea:

McCrea Financial Services have been providing professional financial planning advice and assistance to individuals, businesses and charities since they were formed in 1999 by Managing Director, Douglas McCrea.

Based in Glasgow, but serving the whole of the UK, as well as clients abroad, McCrea pride themselves on providing a professional and friendly financial planning service.

As part of a commitment to the city where it all started, McCrea Financial Services are sponsors of a number of Glasgow based sporting teams including Glasgow Warriors and Partick Thistle, and work very hard to provide charitable support with just over £700,000 now donated to our nominated charities over the years. Last year saw a record-breaking fundraising year for McCrea, managing to raise £43,060 combined with your help for the Emma Cameron Foundation and Glasgow Care Foundation!

Celebrating our 25th birthday in May 2024, McCrea have set the very ambitious goal of raising £25,000 for each Charity Partner this year, meaning a total fundraising target of £50,000!

Our sold-out 14th Annual Charity Golf Day on the 25th April at the Fairmont St Andrews teed-off our new year of fundraising, which raised just over £8,100! Congratulations to team Fairway to Heaven who finished in first place and took home our winners trophies, as well as a fourball to the prestigious Royal Dornoch Golf Club! You can read more about the day here.

McCrea adviser Jonathan Campbell undertook the 53-mile Highland Fling Ultra Marathon on Saturday 27th April, which saw him run through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to raise funds for our charity partners. Jonathan finished the race with a time of 11 hours, 28 minutes and 57 seconds, raising £4,014 in the process; a monumental effort by Jonathan!

On the subject of marathons, Head of Marketing Ross McCrea completed his own unique ‘Golf 25 Marathon’ Charity Challenge on Tuesday 28th May, where he played a hole of golf at 25 different courses in and around St Andrews – the Home of Golf – in one day. Ross teed-off at Carnoustie Links Golf Course at 6.21am and putted to finish the day at Dunfermline Golf Club at 9:21pm, taking him exactly 15 hours which helped raise £2,512!

Managing Director Douglas McCrea will be setting off on his ‘Stage 1: Pre-Op’ 15th Annual Charity Walk on Monday 5th August, as he attempts to hobble along the 65km long Clyde Walkway a month before his hip replacement operation on 24th September! Keep an eye out for updates as to how Douglas gets on.

We're delighted to be hosting our Annual Charity Dinner and Wine Tasting evening at Maison by Glaschu on Friday 13th September! The evening will consist of a drinks reception with canapes, a delicious French themed three-course meal with matching wines, a performance from one of Britain's best magicians Kevin Quantum, and a Charity Auction and Raffle to help us raise funds for our charities. Places are available at £85 per person; get in touch with Ross McCrea at ross@mccreafs.co.uk to book your place now!

Keep an eye out for details of these events, as well as other staff fundraisers, as we aim to raise as much money and awareness as possible for our two charity partners!
