Story
On 18th March 2023 our lives changed forever when our amazing little boy Maxwell was born. As with so many births not everything went according to plan and Max needed life saving treatment to bring him back to us- treatment that could only be given hours away from home.
You do anything for your child and this was no exception but we were riddled with worry about the logistics of it all with another little guy at home and Max needing 24 hour around the clock care. If it wasn’t for Ronald McDonald house I genuinely don’t know what we would have done.
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to families with children having treatment in specialist hospitals.
Their 12 Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child's bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain.
Not only was our stay at Ronald McDonald crucial to preserving our own strength during what was a super difficult time but it also opened our eyes to the enormous gift this place is to so many different families day in and day out. For some, the house is truly home for a little while and no detail goes amiss.
This is an incredible charity that changes lives. Being close to your child when they are critically ill is made possible and I cannot tell you what a gift that is.
This year as we mark Maxwell’s first trip around the sun- something that we are eternally grateful for- we are looking to raise enough money for a family to stay at Ronald McDonald for a week. It’s only £35 a night and the impact for families and the little ones that need the love and support is truly priceless!
We would be so grateful if you could spare a few pennies to help us reach our goal and if not- when your next at the yellow arches getting a Big Mac and nugget happy meal remember to always click yes to the donation! Your doing an amazing thing for a little life and their family when they need it the most.
Happy Birthday Max and thank you to Ronald McDonald for getting us through- I will never be able to express how grateful we are.
