Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
The 23rd of February 2024 marked the five year anniversary of my sister Julia being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Without Anthony Nolan, finding a stem cell donor for Julia’s bone marrow transplant (BMT) would have been almost impossible. Thanks to their hard work, I am extremely grateful that my family and I have been able to share many more beautiful memories with Julia since she completed her treatment in 2019.
On the 7th of April, I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on behalf of Julia and Anthony Nolan.
Although the race will be a great challenge, I am eager to push myself beyond my comfort zone and will be happy to do so, knowing that every penny I raise through donations will be aiding Anthony Nolan so that they can continue supporting other patients and their families. By creating this fundraising page, I hope to begin to give back to the infinite debt I have towards Anthony Nolan.
Since completing her treatment, Julia completed her degree in Neuroscience and is now acing her studies at medical school in Brighton. I am so proud of you Julia :)
I am especially excited to race my first half marathon here in London, my hometown, and hope it will be the first of many to come.
And here's the bit that Anthony Nolan writes:
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
