I will be running in my first ever marathon, the London Marathon 2025, for Dementia UK and in memory of my Grandad who passed away during the pandemic whilst suffering with dementia. My nan is also currently suffering with dementia and is a disease which affects so many people in so many different ways.

For me it was horrible to see my Grandad forget the small things such as, making a cup of tea or not remembering that spurs were on TV. It is so upsetting to see someone you love and care for become a shadow of their former selves due to a cruel disease with no cure.

However, thanks to the amazing work and research that dementia UK do, they are helping families and loved ones affected with dementia. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia charity which offer free life changing support to those suffering with dementia. The charity also helps people understand, the different stages and types of dementia and how it can affect people in different ways.

The charity also has a dementia helpline: 0800 888 6678. Which is available to ensure anyone suffering with dementia and those with a loved one that is suffering don't have to face it alone.

Any donations made would be crucial so that charity can support more nurses and more people being affected by dementia.
