Story
Matthew was a beam of light to those around him. He was a laid back, go-with-the-flow kind of guy. That calming energy is what made him so personable and easy to talk to. Although he could be quiet and reserved, he could make friends with anyone and make them feel the warmth his heart offered this world. Matt was an empath and always put others needs before his own. He loved to make other people happy no matter what hardships he was going through. His compassion for others and positive mindset was so pure and genuine. His time on earth was cut way too short as he lost his battle with cancer at 33 years old.
His love and kindness towards helping others will live on through raising awareness about colon cancer, early detection, and quality patient care.
Access to preventive screenings and health services remains a barrier for many men and women across the nation and in South Jersey. As a result, opportunities for detecting cancer and other chronic diseases early are often missed.
With the help of our philanthropic partners, Virtua Health plans to establish a Mobile Health and Cancer Screening Unit to reduce health disparities and ensure our community members across Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties have access to life-saving screenings.
