Story
I was diagnosed with patent foramen ovale (PFO) as a baby which is essentially a hole in the heart which did not close naturally, I had an operation and have had no issues since. This has contributed to my desire to raise funds for British Heart Foundation (BHF) with my mother, who worked as a cardiac rehabilitation nurse, also raising money for the charity multiple times.
I decided to run the London Marathon to challenge myself while raising money to help fund BHF. The BHF provides invaluable research and progress towards treating various heart conditions.
I ran the Cambridge Half Marathon in both 2022 (for the company’s previous national charity) and 2023 (for BHF) and found both experiences challenging and rewarding. Running these large events also give you an excellent opportunity to hear other runners stories.
Running is not natural for me, although I do play for my local rugby team, so this is a big albeit exciting challenge.
