The Grand Union Canal Walk
Fundraising for The Feast Youth Project
Fundraising for The Feast Youth Project
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February 2025 I will be walking the length of the Grand Union Canal, from Birmingham to London, to raise money for The Feast Youth Project.
The Feast is a charity which brings together young people of different faiths in order to increase understanding and create opportunities for conversations. These personal faith conversations, based on mutual vulnerability and respect, are an excellent environment for forming new friendships. Young people are helped to overcome stereotypes and fears, and gain the confidence to live well with people from a different community or faith. They can sit together, enjoy food, a laugh and have honest and open conversations.
I will be walking from the Gas Street Basin in central Birmingham all the way to London, ending at the Paddington Branch of the Grand Union just by Paddington Station. The total length of the walk is around 140 miles and I will be aiming to complete it in 7 days. To be entirely honest even though I like hiking and am in pretty good physical shape I am quite daunted by the thought of such a long walk, but I am determined to see it through!
I'd appreciate any support you are able to give as I do my best to complete the walk and to raise funds and awareness for a charity which seeks to increase understanding between young people of different faiths.
The walk itinerary is as follows:
Feb 14th: Gas Street Basin-Tyseley (5.5 miles)
Feb 15th: Tyseley-Warwick (19.7 miles).
Feb 16th: Warwick-Daventry (20.7 miles).
Feb 17th: Daventry-Milton Keynes (25 miles).
Feb 18th: Milton Keynes-Eaton Bray (23 miles).
Feb 19th: Eaton Bray-Watford (23 miles).
Feb 20th: Watford-Southall (16 miles).
Feb 21st: Southall-Paddington Branch (12.6 miles).
Early indications from the weather forecast are...well, it's England in February!
