In memory of Jayne

Mount Toubkal Trek 2025 · 17 April 2025

Set in the High Atlas Mountain range in Morocco, Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa and the Arab world. During the Trek you will be able to catch the sunrise at the summit with views over the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert.

Story

There are an incredible group of ladies taking on Mount Toubkal, all of them work for GEH and some of them are locals of The Horseshoes, Nuneaton. I got asked by Mat, the landlord if I would be interested in joining them on this epic adventure. Not one to turn down a challenge, I agreed.

I will be doing this for Jayne, the late wife of a good friend of mine who incidentally worked in this very unit and sadly succumbed to breast cancer herself.

Mount Toubkal stands 13,671ft (4,167m) above sea level and commands superb views of the High Atlas Mountains. The trek passes through impressive landscapes on well-defined paths, dramatic views towards Marrakech and the Anti-Atlas Mountains.

Taking place on Thursday 17th April 2025 till Monday 21st April 2025

The funds raised from the Mount Toubkal Trek will be used by the George Eliot Hospital Charity to support the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust to provide excellent care to our patients and their families, provide funding for life-changing and life-saving equipment, and to develop staff wellbeing.
