Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

I have run 5k, 10k and half-marathons before, but a marathon is a new challenge for me. This could be the only marathon I will ever run, so I want to make it something special.

I have decided to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust because my dad passed away from sepsis in 2018 at a time when hospitals were less aware of the symptoms of sepsis.

As well as awareness raising, the UK Sepsis Trust also provides training to health professionals and support to survivors of sepsis.

Thank you for your support and donating to a worthy cause.
