Story
Like so many people who live in Halton or the surrounding areas, I've had friends and colleagues who've received extraordinary care at Halton Haven Hospice. Based in the heart of the community, it's an organisation which provides incredible end of life care to those living with terminal illness.
Their services are delivered completely free of charge and although they receive some funding from our glorious NHS, Halton Haven Hospice is a Registered Charity with funding coming in via donations from the community and other fundraising events. Remarkably, seven out of every twelve patients are cared for by community donations. Without those donations, the Hospice wouldn’t be able to provide the care for those who need it the most.
With that in mind, I have joined the Halton Haven Warriors and on Saturday 12th August, I'll be joining colleagues to participate in a 15,000ft skydive over the lovely Lake District.
I'm hoping to achieve two things:
Firstly, to reach the ground in a graceful, dignified fashion with some modicum of self-respect still intact.
Secondly, to help raise some much needed funds for this wonderful organisation.
I would be incredibly grateful if you would take the time to sponsor me and I hope that you will consider your kindness a worthy exchange for the abject terror I will feel falling out of the plane.
Thank you.
Matt
