Story
June 2023 - In 2020 Giles and I decided to row from Lee in North Devon to North Wales a distance of some 220 miles up the Irish Sea in Pegasus, an Atlantic rowing boat, supported by the very patient Charlie from Rannoch Adventure. This proved to be a taster and the logical next step was a slightly longer row. Which is why we are rowing this June from St John's in Newfoundland to Galway, Ireland in our new ocean rowing boat, Hurricane, a R25 again prepared by Rannoch Adventure. This is a distance of 1,705 nautical miles across the North Atlantic which will take us roughly 35 days, each rowing 12 hours a day broken up into shifts of 2 hours on/2 hours off (day and night). The sea temperature will be a bracing 12deg with the possibility of iceberg sightings.

As always, the only sensible bit is that we intend to raise money for some excellent causes. I will be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital's Charity in its newly launched plan to help build a new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH.
The hospital is already pushing the boundaries when it comes to paediatric cancer care and treatment, and pioneering research is underway that will give hope to more children and their families. But advances have outstripped GOSH’s current cancer care facilities, and the hospital needs a new home for breakthrough therapies. The Children’s Cancer Centre will be that home. With more space, a new hospital school and world-class research facilities, it will be a gateway for children to go on to better futures. But before we can help beat childhood cancer, we need to build it.
