Story
I need your help…
A week ago, a good friend of mine, Andy, asked for my help. He is a fundraiser for St. Francis Hospice and during the recent cost of living crisis, charities have seen their donations fall and patient care could suffer as a result.
St. Francis Hospice provide amazing end of life care as their primary service, however they also provide support for families, carers and loved ones. Other services include Professional resources.
To provide all of the above the hospice needs to raise over £8 million per year because only 28% is provided by the Government.
So when Andy asked me to take part in the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ due to a space opening up, in just over three weeks time, I couldn’t refuse!
I know Andy and everyone at the Hospice works tirelessly to support Patient care and I would love to help them by raising some valuable funds.
My challenge is to climb the three highest peaks in the UK, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden, within 24 hours. That means climbing Scafell Pike in the dark, with the ascent starting around 11pm at night!!
The 24hrs includes the time it will take to drive between the three peaks and will be on the go for over 24 hours in total as we have a three hour drive to the base of Ben Nevis. This is a significant mental and physical challenge, however is nothing compared to the challenges the patients and their families face, each and every day. 24 hours of pain and suffering is the least I can do to help Andy and his team.
Any donation you can make will be greatly received, no matter how big or small. If you have the ability to give generously, please do, this is a marvellous cause!
I will be posting progress updates on the day of the challenge and hope this will encourage people to dig deep!
Many thanks for reading this far,
With thanks,
Matt
