Hey Everyone! Thanks for visiting and hopefully donating to my Just Giving page! After 1 year off I'm back in the saddle and raising money by cycling 234 miles and 4,816m of elevation from Dumbarton to Aberdeen over the course of 3 days in June.
Having cycled a few of these now, I've raised money for some good causes however, this year the charity the team are raising money for is Simpsons Special Care Babies, one that has played a massive role in two of my closest friends lives this past year. Paul and Meghan's baby Blake was born 9 weeks premature with a rare condition which required him to have a number of operations very early in life. Having recently become a parent my self I now have a sense of what this time must have been like for Paul and Meghan, and the support and care they and Blake received from Simpsons was nothing short of fantastic. Being able to raise money for a charity that had such an impact on my friend's lives is a privilege so please donate as much as you can to help all those new families that rely on Simpsons Special Cares Babies.
I've left a little blurb with more info on the work that the charity does below and a link to Paul and Meghan's just giving page (they are also cycling C2C) where they talk a bit more about their journey.

Thanks for donating :-).
Every year in the UK 90,000 babies are cared for in neonatal units. This means that 1 in 7 babies are admitted to a neonatal unit. These numbers include premature and full-term babies. The birth of a child is one of the most special moments of a parent’s life, but it can also be one of the most worrying times when your baby needs critical lifesaving care. This is why this year as a group we are going to help raise funds for the Simpsons Special Care Babies charity in Scotland, a charity that has directly helped some of our riders through the most challenging of times. The purpose of the charity is to ensure that all babies admitted to the Simpsons Neonatal unit continue to receive the best possible care under the expertise of the medical staff. Not only do they support babies who require special care, but they provide support to parent well-being through a ‘family-centred-care' unit. By supporting the charity through our fundraising activity, we will support the unit in being able to acquire life saving medical equipment such as video laryngoscopes which significantly improve the success rate of intubation of small babies.
