Matthew's fundraiser for National Literacy Trust

Peak District Abseil 2025 · 16 March 2025
Hello, and thanks for stopping by my page.
I am abseiling down the side of a viaduct next year in aid of the sterling work the National Literacy Trust undertake
Why? I hear you ask. Well the Literacy Trust were and still are in some respects a massive part of my recovery. I first got involved with them in 2008 where I wrote a short story about football, which was published. After that I spoke at conferences about my own reengagement with literacy and education and also attended an event at the House of Commons, which was a bit surreal. I also completed an internship which literally gave me the skills to be able to apply for professional roles.
Thing is none of this would have been possible without this amazing charity and the work they do across the country. They aim to transform lives through improving literacy levels of the most disadvantaged in our communities. They get books into the hands of the people who need them most. Their work in schools aims to improve literacy levels for children from the poorest backgrounds. They are just a brilliant bunch of people. They helped change the trajectory of my life. Please consider donating a few quid so they can continue to change the life’s of thousands of children, and adults across the country. The work the Literacy Trust do enables individuals to transform their lives and reach their true potential.
Thank you
Matt
