Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 14th September, me and 9 colleagues from Prosser Knowles and Griffiths Marshall will be taking part in the 10km Autumn Wolf Run to raise money for The Family Haven.
The Family Haven was established in 1988 to help disadvantaged and vulnerable families in Gloucestershire to a brighter future.
The Family Haven is a small local charity based in Gloucester, which provides practical help and support to deprived and vulnerable families with pre-school children living in the County of Gloucestershire. Families living in B&B or unsuitable accommodation, those with mental health issues, victims of domestic violence and pre-school children with special or additional needs – they all receive practical and emotional support.
They work with the hard to reach sector of society, many of their families live in social isolation and feel excluded from the community. They positively engage with these families and help them to feel valued. By doing so they feel a sense of self worth and are more inclined to feel part of the community.
They promote understanding, tolerance and respect towards each other. Their services remain flexible, non-judgemental and confidential, providing equal opportunity to all. This helps build confidence and self esteem which in turn reduces the gap in health, poverty and social exclusion.
Below are examples of how your donations can help:
£10 : Provides art materials for nursery play sessions
£25 : Enables 90 minutes of support for a parent in need
£50 : Gives 25 children a healthy lunch
£250 : Affords transport for a local day trip for our families
More information about the work of the charity can be found on their website: www.thefamilyhaven.com
